My name is Judy Carbone, and I am running for County Commissioner, District 1, in Garrett County.
I love Garrett County, its amazingly kind and talented people, its rich history, and the resilience that forms the community I have been proud to be a part of for the past 20 years.
For over a decade, I worked as an administrator at Garrett College, helping students solve problems and explore their life, education and career options. Today, I am the volunteer coordinator at HART for Animals, Inc., where I manage several hundred volunteers of all ages.
In 2012, I was appointed by the County Commissioners to the Garrett County Commission for Women and have been the Chair for the past 2 years. I also serve on the Board of Directors of Engage Mountain Maryland and am the President of AAUW-Garrett Branch (American Association of University Women). Previously, I was an Executive Board Officer of Garrett Lakes Art Festival, Mountain Laurel Medical Center, and the House of Hope. For each of the past five years I have coordinated volunteers for the dynamically successful Deep Creek Art & Wine Festival.
Now I am running for Garrett County Commissioner, District 1, hoping to be the first Garrett County woman commissioner in a quarter century. I will bring a new voice, a creative approach to finding solutions, and my proven abilities of Leadership, Teamwork, and Collaboration to the Board of Commissioners.
I imagine a county government that better draws upon and mobilizes the talents and contributions of our workers, farmers, professionals, small businesses, our seniors and our youth, our men AND our women. With a shared vision for a prosperous community, we can get there!
I would love to hear from you with your concerns and your solutions. Please be in touch with me. I thank you for your consideration and ask you to vote for me!
