AAUW-Garrett Branch Annual Meeting

Each May, AAUW-Garrett Branch holds an annual meeting to review accomplishments of the previous year and look forward to the activities of the next. Everyone is invited to attend, especially current members, those who were once members, and those who are thinking about becoming a member. A $15 fee for food and non-alcoholic bevreages will be collected. Some time for a short business meeting will be allotted and then ample time for mingling, asking questions, meeting other like-mindeds, and just having good conversation will be allowed. Please join us to learn more about AAUW-Garrett Branch.

Taste of Garrett

2018 marks the 16th annual Taste of Garrett and is a major fundraiser for Garrett Trails. 100% of proceeds go toward progress on our trail construction plans such as the Meadow Mountain Trail resurfacing and construction, the continued construction of new hiking and biking trails at the Fork Run Recreation Area, engineering for the Youghiogheny Lake Trail north of Friendsville, and the Grantsville Bikeways Connector.

The event is packed with restaurants from all around Garrett County, MD. Patrons pay one entrance fee and then can immerse themselves in sampling tasty treats from the area’s best chefs, prizes and raffles, entertainment and delicious new offerings and classic favorites from Garrett County's popular dining establishments. 

ADMISSION IS $30 ADULTS, $15 FOR CHILDREN. PROCEEDS BENEFIT GARRETT COUNTY TRAILS. Tickets will be available online atwww.garrettcountygranfondo.org or at the door.

Western Maryland Democratic Summit

Join Maryland Democrats as we bring the fight to resist the destructive Republican-Trump agenda to the 14th Annual Western Maryland Democratic Summit!

The 14th Annual Western Maryland Democratic Summit will feature appearances by Maryland's Democratic Party leadership and elected officials; valuable workshops and exhibits on topics of interest to activists, candidates, and political junkies; and networking opportunities that have established the Summit’s reputation as a signature event in Maryland politics. 

The Summit Straw Poll will also provide an opportunity to weigh in on the Democratic candidates running for Maryland Governor and Maryland's 6th District Congressional seat.

Garrett County Women's Hall of Fame

The 2018 Garrett County Women's Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at a breakfast celebration on Saturday, April 7th, at 9:30am, at Dutch’s at Silver Tree on Glendale Road near Deep Creek Lake. AT the breakfast the Commission will also be awarding a $5,000 Maureen R. Sharps Scholarship and five (5) $500 GCCW Scholarships.

The hall of fame inductees will be in attendance at the breakfast, along with family members, several dignitaries, and members of the Commission for Women. 

Tickets may be purchased after at the door for $30 (it helps with our meal count if you call ahead of time, even if you miss the 4/4 payment deadline).

A&E District Informational Meeting

Maryland’s Arts & Entertainment (A&E) Districts help develop and
promote community involvement, tourism, and revitalization through
tax-related incentives that attract artists, arts organizations, and other creative enterprises to towns and cities across the State. A&E programs provide tax benefits designed to boost economic development and create districts filled with artists and arts enterprises.

Join us for a public information session on what the Oakland A&E District could mean for you and how we can help! 

As part of the designation’s benefits, artists working in the districts can receive an income tax credit. Developers who create spaces for artists to live and work can apply for qualified property tax exemptions for up to 10 years.
