Mountain Lake Park Mayor and Town Council will be hosting the Maryland Department of Transportation and State Highway Administration representatives who will be sharing the most recent information on the proposed Oakland Bypass, or Ninth Street Extended (truck route).
This will be a special monthly meeting of GGBA. Each candidate present running for election in 2018 for a federal, county or state seat (anyone on our Garrett County ballot) will be given time to speak about their platform to our local business leaders.
Each May, AAUW-Garrett Branch holds an annual meeting to review accomplishments of the previous year and look forward to the activities of the next. Everyone is invited to attend, especially current members, those who were once members, and those who are thinking about becoming a member. A $15 fee for food and non-alcoholic bevreages will be collected. Some time for a short business meeting will be allotted and then ample time for mingling, asking questions, meeting other like-mindeds, and just having good conversation will be allowed. Garrett County Commissioners present the county's Economic Development Program. This event will be moderated and will begin with remarks for the commissioners as well a power-point presentation. Questions from the audience welcome. This event is a public forum FREE and open to Everyone.
2018 marks the 16th annual Taste of Garrett and is a major fundraiser for Garrett Trails. 100% of proceeds go toward progress on our trail construction plans such as the Meadow Mountain Trail resurfacing and construction, the continued construction of new hiking and biking trails at the Fork Run Recreation Area, engineering for the Youghiogheny Lake Trail north of Friendsville, and the Grantsville Bikeways Connector.
The event is packed with restaurants from all around Garrett County, MD. Patrons pay one entrance fee and then can immerse themselves in sampling tasty treats from the area’s best chefs, prizes and raffles, entertainment and delicious new offerings and classic favorites from Garrett County's popular dining establishments.

Join Candidate Carbone at the DemFest Spring Fling. Hosted by the Garrett County Democratic Central Committee, DemFest brings people from across Maryland who are interested in Democratic issues for an evening of music and camaraderie. The 2018 Garrett County Women's Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at a breakfast celebration on Saturday, April 7th, at 9:30am, at Dutch’s at Silver Tree on Glendale Road near Deep Creek Lake. AT the breakfast the Commission will also be awarding a $5,000 Maureen R. Sharps Scholarship and five (5) $500 GCCW Scholarships.
The hall of fame inductees will be in attendance at the breakfast, along with family members, several dignitaries, and members of the Commission for Women.
Tickets may be purchased after at the door for $30 (it helps with our meal count if you call ahead of time, even if you miss the 4/4 payment deadline).

tax-related incentives that attract artists, arts organizations, and other creative enterprises to towns and cities across the State. A&E programs provide tax benefits designed to boost economic development and create districts filled with artists and arts enterprises.

As part of the designation’s benefits, artists working in the districts can receive an income tax credit. Developers who create spaces for artists to live and work can apply for qualified property tax exemptions for up to 10 years.
